L'Underwater Vision Profiler ou UVP (licence du CNRS) est conçu afin d'étudier et de quantifier simultanément les particules (>80µm) et le zooplacton présent dans un volume d'eau connu. L'UVP6 enregistre aussi des images de plus gros agrégats et zooplancton (>700µm) pour une classification ultérieure grâce à l'application internet EcoTaxa/EcoPart. La version Haute Fréquence (HF) peut être déployée à des vitesse supérieures (>1m.s-1) que son petit frère l'UVP6 Low Power (LP), et peut donc être installée sur des plateformes plus rapides comme les CTDs et les AUVs.
